Internationally Aligned Certified Pilates Instructor Training Courses

    Why become a Pilates Trainer/Instructor?

    1. You Love Pilates and Movement

Can you imagine going to work and doing something you love? If you love Pilates, then why not make it into a career? They say when you love your work, it won’t feel like work at all, and this is very much applicable with a Pilates career. As a Pilates instructor, you will live, breathe, and eat Pilates – and if this appeals to you – then you should go ahead and sign up for courses at a Pilates training centre.

    1. You Want to Get Out of the Office

Tired of being shackled to a desk from 8 to 5? As a Pilates teacher, you don’t have to follow strict rules pinning you down to office working hours. You can find work at different studios and meet new and different people all the time.

    1. You Want to Help People

Pilates is a great way to get in shape, and many people take it up because they want a healthy life-style. Once you see your clients progressing, getting better, and getting fitter, you will feel a sense of accomplishment like no other.

The truth is that many students who take courses barely touch the surface of Pilates philosophy, biomechanics and anatomy. There is a much deeper meaning to the teachings of Pilates and as a teacher you can study these in order to understand Pilates better and become a more effective teacher.

    1. You Want a Flexible Schedule

Perhaps one thing that draws people into Pilates teaching is the fact that you can set your own schedule, at least to a certain point.  You can set your own times.  If you want more time to do other things (like spending with your family), then a being a Pilates teacher could be one of the best decisions to make.

    1. You are committed to succeed and willing to put in the effort to reach your destination

You will receive all the tools and assistance to be successful; however, the hard work and commitment has to come from yourself.  If you are a hard worker and committed to the cause, you can and will be successful.

How do I become a Reformer Pilates instructor in South Africa?
The first thing you need to do is to find a reputable studio that does not offer you watered down or condensed Pilates Courses. We have had students come into our studio wanting to do the Intensive Reformer Course but then they realize that their Mat Qualification has left them with little to no confidence in their teaching skills as Pilates Instructors.
How do you become a Pilates reformer trainer?
After having done your Pilates Mat course lectures, you can continue with your Pilates Reformer lectures at Pilates Dynamics so that you can obtain your Pilates Reformer qualification. Should you already be in possession of a Pilates Mat Course qualification, you can sign up for our Intensive Pilates Reformer course. Once you have completed your lectures, you will start with your Pilates Reformer practical training hours. The Pilates Reformer course practical hours are made up of client training, personal practice, and observation hours.
We understand that sometimes not everyone wants to learn in a group, or maybe your time schedule simply does not align with our group lecture dates, therefore you can also do this course on a private (one-on-one) basis and do the lectures at times and on days that suits you. You can contact Pilates Dynamics for more information on how to schedule private lecture hours for your Pilates Reformer Course.
How long does it take to become a reformer Pilates instructor?
Pilates Dynamics gives you a full calendar year to finish your course from your starting date. If you are part of a Pilates Reformer Group Course and you decide to finish your course a lot earlier than the rest of the group, you can elect to write your exams at any time, subject to availability of examiners at Pilates Dynamics.
Why not do a shorter course or maybe an online Pilates course?
No, No, No. Do not do yourself a dis-service. You do not want to spend your valuable time and money to engage in an online Pilates course or on a condensed Pilate course, only to find out afterwards when you apply for a Pilates Instructor, or you attempt to start you own studio – that you do not know enough to train Pilates.
The hazards of doing a short Pilates course or a condensed Pilates course or an online Pilate course are a plenty. With the shorter and less in-depth courses there is quite often less time available to be thorough with the material that is being delivered, and the quality of the material itself comes into question.
Can I teach Reformer Pilates without a Mat qualification?
No. A Pilates Mat qualification forms the basis of your Reformer course. You can always complete the Pilates Mat lectures and then follow on with your Pilates Reformer lectures, which will make the Reformer course seem a lot easier to complete.
Can I find employment at Pilates Dynamics upon completion of my Pilates Mat and/or Pilates Reformer Course?
Most definitely yes. Pilates Dynamics offers Internships as well as employment opportunities for Pilates Instructors.
When does the next Pilates Reformer Course start?
Our next Reformer course starts 11 April 2025.
Am I too old to be a Pilates instructor?
Regardless of your age, conditioning, or ability, it’s never too late to start your journey as a Pilates Instructor. There is good income to derive from being a great Pilates Instructor which can support your livelihood for years to come. Just like with anything else in life, you need to be willing to put in the required effort for you to be successful.
Age is just a number and if you join us and let us educate and mentor you, you will see you have nothing to worry about. As long as you put the effort and consistency in your practical and continuous learning practice, you will succeed.
What to look for when choosing a Pilates educator
When you are looking for a Pilates educator, why settle for 3rd best or 2nd best when you can have the number one option? Pilates Dynamics Studio has been operating long enough and we are passionate and serious about our tuition and our students. The Course content is carefully and regularly updated to make sure our students get top tier education.
Our previous students have had a chance to work at our studio before eventually relocating all around the world and some have opened their own spaces. Some Pilates Instructors are mobile Pilates trainers.
Why you should choose Pilates Dynamics
Our lectures have been exposed to numerous styles of Pilates and have many years of training and education experience (both nationally and internationally)
We take our training very seriously therefore we make sure that our courses are in-depth and intensive and offer an integration of anatomy, injuries and pathologies with recommendations and contra-indications, and exercise goals to ensure an understanding of the work including a full exercise video library of exercises in our manual.

  • Why Do a Pilates Course? 10 Good Reasons to Become a Pilates Instructor

Why Do a Pilates Course? 10 Good Reasons to Become a Pilates Instructor

Are you thinking of starting a career in teaching Pilates? You are probably already a passionate member of the practice. So why not turn it into a career or part-time job to supplement your income?
You are probably wondering if you can earn a living teaching Pilates? Yes, you certainly can.

We will give you the 10 best reasons to become a Pilates Teacher and you will more than likely recognize some of these reasons in yourself:

    1. You want to convince everyone you meet to try out Pilates.
This is an absolute must for people wanting to become a Pilates Instructor. You must love the practice.

    2. You are not enjoying your work or find yourself in a rut.
Work is not always fun, but you should not feel stuck in it. Work should be meaningful and challenging and you should be able to enjoy it. If not, it is time to consider a career change. Exercise is generally more fun than most jobs. You will be creating and writing programs and teaching classes to others for them to become stronger and more flexible. At the same time, it will challenge your skill to get others to perform the exercises correctly and with precision and control. Every client is different, and every class will be different, so becoming bored is not an option.

    3. You enjoy working with people.
This is another important requirement. You will be dealing with people all day long. Pilates Instructors are hands-on, encouraging, and motivating. We know it can be challenging to work with people all the time, but many Instructors find this an interesting challenge and one that is rewarding. Of course, you will also need to do administration and marketing in between, but that makes for a good mix.

    4. You need to find a more meaningful career.
If your current work does not leave you feeling fulfilled, it could be time for a change. The great thing about Pilates is that you are making a meaningful change in people’s lives. Besides, if you are unsure whether you should leave your job, you can always do Pilates part-time, before taking the big step.

    5. You are looking for a career that is more active and physical.
If sitting in front of a computer is not your thing, then working as a Pilates Teacher will provide an active career that is much healthier. It will deepen your own practice.

    6. Pilates is not a 9 to 5 job.
There is a lot of flexibility choosing to become a Pilates Instructor. If you need to be flexible and need to schedule work around your family, then becoming a Pilates Instructor might work for you.

    7. Are you considering a career within which you can grow?
Fitness is a growing industry. The fitness industry has seen significant growth and transformation over the years, with growth estimations of nearly 7.5% annually between 2022 and 2030. The fitness industry is experiencing rapid expansion due to a surge in health-conscious consumers and the proliferation of diverse fitness offerings. Pilates is part of this growth and shows no signs of slowing down.

    8. Are you a Personal Trainer, Bio kineticist, or Physiotherapist searching for something else to add to your skills?
If you are already in the fitness and health industry but are looking at ways to set yourself apart from every other personal trainer, bio kineticist or physiotherapist then Pilates is a great way to achieve this.

    9. Do you love learning and personal growth?
Whether you have a fitness qualification or not, Pilates Instruction is a great way to keep learning and challenging your mind and body. You will keep learning as science evolves.

    10. Do you want to earn a living doing something you love?
This is the most important question and if you love Pilates and want to share it with others and earn a living from it whilst it makes you feel good, then follow your passion. You can teach Pilates well into your 80’s.

So, what are your reasons for becoming a Pilates Instructor or adding Pilates to your current skills set?
This is ultimately your personal choice. To make that career move, you will need good reasons to motivate you. Does Pilates fit your goals and priorities for work and life? If so, then make a choice and don’t look back.
What qualification do I need to become a Pilates Instructor?
Pilates is not regulated, so licencing is not required. However, most studios need their Pilates instructors to be certified. Clients will also be looking at your certification and qualifications.
Becoming certified is not as expensive or as time consuming as you think. However, it depends on the program you chose and the time you have available to complete the certification.

It could take you 12 months to complete the basic Pilates Mat qualification, or it could take you 3 months. It all depends on how much time you have available to complete your practical hours and get yourself ready for the exams – it really is up to you.

Once you have a certification, you can look for a job at a Pilates studio or at a gym. You can also take the independent route and take on clients in your home or rent space at a gym or studio. This is a flexible career that allows you to shape it however you want.

What other qualification can I do once I have obtained the basic Pilates Mat course?
Pilates Reformer training is hugely popular overseas and in South Africa. It is the latest buzz word. Once you have obtained your basic Pilates Mat course, you can sign up for the Pilates Reformer course which will allow for more scope for growth and income.

Becoming a Pilates Instructor with PILATES DYNAMICS is the perfect way to start your Pilates journey. Pilates is a full body workout, using springs, balance and various resistance training equipment and body weight resistance with control and precision by placing emphasis on the core to control proper breathing, correct spinal and pelvic alignment. Joseph Pilates was involved in all different types of sports and developed this exercise method to create a 360-degree type of exercise with mind and body involved for sports as well as any other person, active or not.
Pilates strengthens stabiliser muscles which support the skeletal structure with emphasis on the spine which will ultimately improve posture and pain.

    5. What is the difference between Mat and Equipment Pilates?

Mat Pilates usually allows you to use your own body as resistance against gravity with the help of balance and smaller type of equipment for extra resistance, including the TRX, Rebounding (Trampoline), and Barre Classes. Then there are also Large Equipment classes (Pilates Reformer; Pilates Cadillac; Pilates Ladder Barrel; Pilates Towers; Pilates Wunda Chairs), which works with spring tension and smaller equipment is also added form extra resistance.

Pilates Dynamics has one of the most well-equipped studios in Johannesburg South Africa and we offer an array of equipment to help keep your workouts interesting and fun. There is nothing worse than recycling the same 4 pieces of equipment when you do Pilates. It gets boring very quickly. Our classes tend to get fully booked and sometimes we have a waiting list because clients are after the ability to use so many different pieces of equipment, so they have something new to look forward to with every class.

Pilates Teacher Training Courses in Johannesburg (Comprehensive Pilates)

What is a Pilates Comprehensive Course about one might ask, it is considered the foundational level of one’s Pilates professional education and it covers Pilates Mat, Pilates Towers, Pilates Chairs, Pilates Barrels and Pilates Reformers. The Comprehensive certification is a classical Pilates education program distinguished by an emphasis on Pilates as an Integrated movement system as Joseph Pilates Intended.

In this blog, we will talk about the benefits of training comprehensively and more. As a certified Pilates Instructor, if I had the option to train to be a Pilates Instructor Comprehensively, I would have taken it over doing each course separately like I did many years ago. I have had the joy of seeing new instructors take their Courses once off and it has more benefits, more employment opportunities and one can even open their own studio if they want to. These days there are great Pilates educators like Pilates Dynamics who have Comprehensive Pilates Courses throughout the year, and it so happens their next Course starts 8 June 2024 so make sure you hurry and register as they tend to get fully booked for their famous courses really fast.

Pilates Dynamics is hands down one of the best Certified Pilates Educator in Johannesburg South Africa. At Pilates Dynamics, you get to learn an extensive repertoire together with modifications to make the exercises either more complex and/or easier.  The curriculum is of such a nature that it allows for Pilates Instructor to acquire not only rehabilitation skills, but also allows for athletic and sports conditioning to enhance performance.  The Pilates method is an excellent training method for Runners, Cyclists, Strength training, CrossFit training, Weight training, Soccer players, Cricketers, and Golfers.

Each exercise is categorized in terms of a full body workout and the goals and objectives of the exercises are explained so that anyone understands the WHY, WHEN, AND HOW of each exercise together with muscle focus, recommendations, and contra-indications for certain population groups and those with movement restrictions.

These Courses are ideal for Physiotherapists, Biokineticists, Occupational Therapists, Dancers, Personal Trainers, Exercise Specialists and Fitness Specialists and even people with a Corporate position who want to change careers – as long as your passion is exercise and fitness.

Benefits of doing the Pilates Comprehensive Course

    1. Study one time and get fully qualified

Pilates Dynamics offers separate courses for those who wish to do each Course Individually but what I love about them the most is that they give an opportunity to those who want to do the Courses Comprehensively a chance. You get to experience the full flow of Pilates and dive into each section with maximum understanding.

    1. Endless high paying Pilates Instructor jobs

This goes without saying!!! If you are comprehensively qualified as a Pilates Instructor, every employer will be looking for you and offering you some of the highest benefits out there because you become such an asset. Pilates generally pays well for most Instructors but when you are comprehensively qualified, you are a golden unicorn so if I were you, I would be running to get that qualification.

    1. More job opportunities abroad

If you are passionate about travelling and Pilates, then this is the Course for you. Pilates has become a lot more popular over the past couple of years and there is such a high demand for Pilates Instructors in general but being able to teach on every piece of equipment makes you that one Instructor every studio wants to have.

You can still comprehensively qualify by doing one course at a time but that might take you years and years to accomplish. This is why I love the fact that Pilates Dynamics offers this Pilates Comprehensive Course.

When does the next Pilates Mat Course start?

Our next Mat Course starts 8 June 2024.

When does the next Pilates Reformer Course start?

Our next Reformer course starts on 1 June 2024.

Here are some comments from clients who trained with Pilates Instructors who previously qualified with Pilates Dynamics:-

Why you should choose Pilates Dynamics
